Aadujeevitham: A Poignant Saga of Resilience and Redemption

Aadu jeevitham The Goat life review

Aadujeevitham (The Goat life)  is an epic survival drama film adapted from the acclaimed Malayalam novel of the same name by Benyamin. Directed by Blessy, the film tells the harrowing true story of Najeeb, an Indian man who ends up stranded in the Saudi Arabian desert after being abducted by traffickers en route to his job. Read my earlier post why one should watch the movie aadujevitham  here.

The film has received widespread acclaim for its breathtaking cinematography, particularly in capturing the vastness and desolation of the desert landscape. Prithviraj Sukumaran’s performance as Najeeb is one of his career-best, as he effortlessly embodies the character’s journey from hopelessness to resilience. With  minimal dialogue, he emotes Najeeb’s pain, determination and fragile psychological state with primal intensity. Director Blessy maintains a deliberate slow pace mirroring Najeeb’s arduous journey, allowing long stretches to immerse the viewer in his suffering and flashes of hope. Another strong point of the film is AR Rahman’s music. The film’s runtime of 2 hours and 52 minutes can make it feel long at times.

Deciding whether to watch Aadujeevitham depends on your preferences. If you’re interested in a thought-provoking and intense survival story with a strong central performance, it might be a rewarding experience.
